Robert McEleney, President & CEO
C. Robert McEleney oversees all business operations for Stowe Mountain Resort, Spruce Peak at Stowe, Stowe Mountain Club and Stowe Mountain Lodge.
McEleney has more than 30 years of management experience in the hospitality industry, beginning his career with ITT Sheraton Corporation where he advanced to vice president, area director of operations. He also served in senior leadership positions with The Resort at Squaw Creek Valley in California, the five diamond Ihilani Resort and Spa in Hawaii, American Skiing Company, Olympus Hospitality Group, Millennium Hotels and Resorts, and previously as President of Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Michael Colbourn, VP Marketing, Sales & Communication
Mike has been in the ski industry for over 30 years, working with Tygate Companies, Mad River Glen, Smugglers' Notch, Bolton Valley, Rossignol, Warren Miller Films and Stowe Mountain Resort. From teaching skiing to crafting sophisticated marketing communications plans, Mike knows his audience and how to reach them with the best possible message. His passion for the product and boundless energy make him one of the best marketing people in the business.
Sam Gaines, VP, Director of Real Estate Development
Sam is responsible for creating and executing the development master plan strategy for Stowe Mountain Resort and its real estate subsidiary Spruce Peak Realty, LLC. Sam manages all aspects of real estate design, engineering, permitting, compliance, construction and sales with respect to Spruce Peak at Stowe a planned community under development at the center of Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont. Sam has extensive experience in the real estate private equity and real estate development industries having sourced and/or managed over $1 billion of real estate including numerous luxury residential projects throughout the U.S. Sam is a passionate skier, golfer and tennis player. He lives in Stowe with his wife Molly.
Scott Reeves, VP Mountain Operations – Scott has been involved in ski area operations since he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ski Resort Recreation Management. His previous positions in the industry include ski patrol, lift and snowmaking maintenance, safety and risk management, facility improvements, and events with ESPN. Prior to Stowe, Scott was Vice President of Mountain Operations at Mount Snow and Haystack. Scott’s lives with his wife Jacquie and their two children.
Jeff Wise, Marketing & Communications Director - Jeff is a mass communications expert who graduated from Emerson College in 1989 and worked in television, radio & film in both New York City and Los Angeles. Jeff’s love of snowboarding and the resort industry brought him to Stowe in 1994. Over the past 19 years he has ran the resort’s snowboard school, marketing department, public relations and corporate communications. Jeff also serves as the resort’s official spokesperson and lives in Stowe with his wife Julie and two children. He is a passionate writer, media specialist, snowboarder and outdoor enthusiast.
Dave Merriam, Director of Mountain Experiences – As director of Stowe’s instructional programs since 1995, Dave has led a team of possibly the most accredited staffs in the industry. He served as head coach of the PSIA/AASI Demonstration Team from 1996-2004 and has been a staff member of the PSIA National Academy since 1985. Dave’s background with companies like Stowe, Sugarloaf, Tecnica, Volkl, Briko, Warren Miller Entertainment and Ski magazine has made him one of the best-regarded people in skiing and snowboarding instruction. Known for his enthusiasm, Dave is fond of saying, “If I had a tail, I’d be wagging it!”
Chris Goss, Director of Hospitality & Lodging – Chris has been in the food business for 28 years. His restaurant concepts have been featured in publications including Bon Appetit, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, The New York Times, the LA Times and many others. He developed and operated Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Café and Music Club in New Orleans, and also designed, developed owned and operated a multi-unit restaurant / hospitality company in Atlanta. Chris is known for his creativity and for always thinking of people first. He also has a language for food that any writer would kill for!
Gary Paquette, Retail Director – Gary has been with Stowe Mountain Resort since 1975, after graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in Recreation Management with a special focus on Ski Area Management. Gary is often sought out as a consultant for new products by companies like Obermeyer, Head, Tyrolia and Rossignol.
