2015 SPRING/SUMMER UPDATE
PLEASE NOTE: Auto and foot traffic across the small bridge at the beginning of Stowe’s Mountain Road (Route 108) is closed through May 29. The two alternative routes/detours from Route 100 to the resort are:
- Moscow Road – located 3 miles south of bridge construction, approaching from Waterbury. Once at the Mountain Road, turn left for Stowe Mountain Resort.
- Mayo Farm Road – located 2 miles north of bridge construction., approaching from Morrisville. Once at the Mountain Road, turn right for Stowe Mountain Resort.
Detour signs are prominently displayed throughout town to make driving around Stowe as easy as possible.
It’s not hard to find Stowe. Since the ski area shares its name with the town, there’s no confusion about where you’re headed, and the “Ski capital of the East” is an easy, enjoyable trip from just about anywhere. Located in north-central Vermont, Stowe Mountain Resort is 40 minutes from Vermont’s largest airport, 20 minutes from Interstate 89, and less than 30 minutes from the train station. Clear signs, light traffic, well-maintained roads, and pretty countryside make it a pleasant drive from the airport or other northeastern locations.
Traveling by car or bus Guests from the north, south, east, or west can take major interstates or highways almost to Stowe’s doorstep. Check Vermont road conditions.

Vermonters are used to dealing with snow, so our major airport has an outstanding open ratio of over 99:1 in the winter. Burlington International Airport offers plenty of flights nonstop from major cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, and Washington. Major carriers at Burlington International Airport include Continental Airlines, The Delta Connection, United Airlines, and US Airways.
From the airport, it’s just a 40-minute, mostly Interstate drive to Stowe. Taxi service and car rentals are available at the airport and some lodges provide special transportation for groups.
