A Vermont Dream Wedding: After living in Vermont for three years while attending Vermont Law School, our daughter and her future husband had a special place in their hearts for Vermont. As soon as they were engaged, they returned to find the perfect venue for their autumn wedding. It had to be in a beautiful area with a lot of fun things to do, as our guests would be traveling from so far away and staying for the weekend. The nature, mountains and foliage had to be reflected in their reception. There also had to be nearby lodging at a variety of prices so no one had to drive after their celebration. The moment they saw Spruce Camp, they knew they had found all they had envisioned for their wedding.

The Spruce Camp Base Lodge is breathtaking. The natural wood and stone, high ceilings, birch branches and open spaces mirror the beauty of Vermont. Wendy Collins and Lacy Mink are warm, talented and professional wedding coordinators, and they helped us with every aspect of our planning. They not only made every whim a reality, but they added all kinds of special touches we never would have imagined. Every effort was made to meet our needs and those of our guests. Wendy, Lacy and Lana Labreque helped us with hair and makeup for the women in the wedding party and they were so talented that every person looked amazing, especially our bride. They also arranged for a delicious and healthy spa lunch so none of the ladies would be hungry before the cocktail hour. When our bride came back from her photos outside she was cold and wet, but Lacy wrapped her in a blanket, turned on the fire, brought her a hot cup of tea and couldn't have been more kind.

The wedding day was cool and rainy, and the ceremony was awesome. Our guests were brought by shuttle and golf cart, and walked inside with umbrellas. The space set up before the stone fireplace (and inviting fire) was very warm and intimate, with low lighting, soft candlelight and flowers. The high ceiling and view of the mountain was the perfect focal point.

Wendy and Lacy had helped us find the ultimate band, florist and cake designer to make the reception exceptional. Nancy Murray's floral designs were everywhere, including birch logs to hold our seating cards. Marion Peer's bourbon, vanilla and chocolate chunk birch cake included flowers that matched Nancy's, as well as a swan she created to represent Vermont Law School. Kathleen Landwehrle was an outstanding photographer, always in the middle of everything, but never obtrusive. She is a true artist! The cocktail hour and reception dinner were comparable to a gourmet meal at an elegant restaurant. There were even s'mores at the end. The entire night flowed so smoothly and Lacy and Blythe were there to be sure everything unfolded seamlessly. At the end, whatever needed to go to our rooms was delivered to us and our guests had the choice of taking a shuttle or walking to their rooms. For those who wanted to party a little longer, the bar in the lodge was the perfect place to end the evening.

"There is no better venue for a beautiful Vermont wedding, and we are left with special memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you everyone at Stowe Mountain Resort who made our dreams come true!" — Linda & Brendan

"A Storybook Wedding: We held our wedding reception at Spruce Camp at the Stowe Mountain Resort (SMR) on September 27, 2014. The months leading up to our wedding day were filled with anxiety due to the construction site developing outside the venue, but Stowe did a fantastic job mitigating the effects of the construction and giving us the storybook wedding we'd dreamed of. As our guests ascended the outside staircase, there were beautiful potted plants and trees strategically placed to disguise views of the construction. Once on the upper patio, SMR hung sheer curtains and placed more potted plants around the patio to provide a very warm courtyard-like feel to our cocktail hour and, once again, this disguised any construction from our guests' views. Once inside, we were pleased to find that SMR and our florist had expertly decorated the interior using some of our decorations and their own. They used natural elements throughout the interior of Spruce Camp to bring the natural beauty of Stowe inside The Great Room. The staff was very helpful, responsive and professional throughout the entire planning process and the service and food were exceptional for the reception. We'd like to especially thank Wendy, Lacy, Blythe and Chris for all their hard work and long hours spent on making our wedding day so wonderful! Thank you SMR!" — Charles and Simonne

"My husband and I were married at Stowe Mountain Resort in September. We had our ceremony, cocktail and reception all at The Spruce Peak Great Room & Patio. To say the wedding was perfect would be an understatement! We do not live in Vermont, so this was a destination wedding for us. We've been vacationing in Stowe for the past 9+ years and absolutely love this quintessential Vermont town. Whether you live in VT or simply love the state, Stowe Mountain Resort is the absolute perfect place for a wedding. It's location at the base of Mount Mansfield provides the best scenery in Stowe. The staff is so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Having a wedding eight and a half hours from where you live could have its challenges, but for us, the process was so easy, thanks to the staff at Stowe Mountain Resort, notably, Wendy and Lacy! I was a pretty laid-back bride, but even if I was a total bridezilla, this place would get the job done! Wendy was constantly in touch with our other local vendors, coordinating everything for our big day, which allowed us to focus on other things, like being excited about our upcoming wedding! The resort is very rustic, which was exactly what we wanted. We'd been dining in The Great Room during ski season for years, so it was really fun to get married in a place we have enjoyed, and will enjoy for years to come! There isn't a better room in all of Vermont, or the country for that matter, when it comes to rustic wedding venues (I'm bias, but really it's beautiful). Massive wood beams run down the entire ceiling and stick furniture is positioned around the room for cocktail tables and lounge areas. The resort has wonderful rustic decorations including birch pillars and vases available for use. If it's chilly, there's a huge stone fireplace outside as well as a cozy fireplace inside which could be used as a back-up location should it rain. So many brides worry about the weather on their wedding day, but if you choose SMR, you can put that worry aside. Any place on this property, inside or outside, is breathtaking! Our wedding food was absolutely delicious, the chef takes pride in using as many local and in-season ingredients as possible. Everything is such high quality. Wedding food can be difficult to master and trying to deliver 100 to 300 excellent meals is quite a task, but the chef and his team at SMR absolutely delivered! It was so important to us that everyone had a really delicious meal. Our family and friends raved about the food. We've had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding food they've ever had, if not in general! In addition to the wonderful amenities for our wedding, our guests lodged at The Stowe Inn and The Stowe Mountain Lodge. The staff at both places is so friendly and helpful. Whether they were providing information for our guests about things to do in town or delivering our welcome bags to each room, their professionalism and expertise was amazing. After skiing in Stowe for years, I've always known the resort staff is awesome and the quality of everything there is impeccable, but their help with our wedding was even better than I could have expected. It was so important to us that our wedding really reflected our personalities and for people to look around and say "this is so them!" Thanks to Stowe Mountain Resort, we achieved that! We couldn't be happier!" — Chelsea & Brandon

"Thank you so much for everything. I am still overwhelmed and reeling, and frankly a little depressed that it's all over! It was the perfect autumn wedding I always dreamed of having. Every little detail fell into place beautifully. Our guests are still raving about everything—the venue, the food, the flowers, the cake, the ambiance. It was all perfect. I'm going to start crying if I write anymore—definitely coming back for our anniversary if not sooner, so you're not getting rid of us just yet." — Christie & Whit

"The Cliff House was the first (and only) venue we considered for our wedding. The setting is incredible, but once we met Lacy and the SMR staff, we knew that's where we wanted to get married. From start to finish, every detail was planned perfectly! The attention to detail made the entire planning process stress-free and easy. We could not have asked for a better wedding weekend. The food was amazing and everybody had a great time. A huge thank you to the entire staff at Stowe and The Cliff House!" — Betsy & Jake

"We want to say a huge thank you to the SMR team! We could not have been happier with everything you did and organized for us. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted and we feel that you all went above and beyond in every aspect! When we think back to our day, it seems like there was nothing overlooked ... everything went so smoothly and just happened in a magical way. We received tons of compliments from our guests—everyone commented on how smoothly things went and how friendly and helpful everyone at the resort was. Every single person has told me how much fun they had and how delicious the food was! We really cannot thank you enough!" — Jen & Seth

"We could not have asked for a better day or weekend at Stowe Mountain Resort. Everything from the beautiful setting of our venue, The Cliff House, to the very accommodating staff made our entire wedding weekend one that we and our guests will remember forever. Our wedding planner helped ensure everything was perfect for our big day and even helped assemble our wedding favors, something we had no idea she was planning to do. The Stowe team made sure every wedding detail was taken care of, including delivering boutonnieres to the groom and groomsmen and transporting the bridal party to the wedding. We could not have asked for a better venue, lodging site or staff to work with. We are still elated after our perfect day and we are not sure if we will ever be able to express our gratitude to the staff of Stowe Mountain Resort." — Marie & Chase

"We chose to have our wedding at Spruce Camp Base Lodge initially for a few reasons: sentimental (Stowe holds a special place in our hearts), natural beauty (the lodge itself is stunning, not to mention the views of the mountains outside), and for the rain plan (with a lot of previous experience with rain on important days, we knew we had to love the rain plan just as much as the outdoor plan). What we got in return was so much more than just those three initial reasons! The more we visited Spruce Camp over the course of our planning, the more we realized just how stunning the architecture of the building is without any decorations. We loved that the building could stand on its own in terms of decor, and that we could add minimal accents to transform the room from a base lodge into our reception.

We worked closely with the wedding coordinator provided through Stowe Mountain Resort from the beginning to the end of the planning stages. This is Stowe's best kept secret—neither of us could imagine planning the wedding or what it would have been like without her! She helped take whispers of ideas we had and turned them into reality. Her calming reassurance made us confident that we were making the right decisions for etiquette and for our vision of the day. She was available to help answer any questions or problem solve any issues before, during and after the big day. She also helped coordinate information to and from Stowe Mountain Lodge, which was incredibly helpful and made for a seamless weekend. When we think back on our wedding and how happy we are to have chosen Stowe, our wedding planner always comes to mind!

The food was a very important element for my mother. Not having been able to taste the food before we signed on at Spruce Camp, she was a little nervous; however, at the tasting, all of her worries were put to rest—the food was fantastic! The chef was more than willing to help us create a menu that satisfied our guests, especially those with dietary restrictions. We felt incredibly comfortable after the tasting, knowing that the food was in his hands!

We couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere other than Stowe and Spruce Camp Base Lodge. We felt as if we were treated like royalty and they helped us create a perfect vision of what was one of our most important and memorable days. We are so thankful for the team of professionals at Stowe Mountain Resort!" — Erika & Ben

"Thank you so much for all your amazing hard work! Our wedding was perfect and we could not have asked for a better planner! Everything went so well! We would not have changed a thing! Any couple will be lucky to work with you to plan their wedding! Please thank everyone on your staff for us. I still cannot believe it is all over! It went way too fast. Thank you again for all that you did for our wedding! All the best to you!" — Maggie & Scott

"Thank you so much for the fabulous service you provided for our event—everything was awesome. Our guests raved about the food, the venue, the service and how much fun they had! We had the best weekend of our lives and The Cliff House proved to be such a great decision!" — Gayle & Bob

"The weekend went as near to perfect as anyone could hope for. Much of that was due to the Stowe team's attention to every detail and desire to make our weekend as incredible and memorable as it was." — Rich & Aaron

— David Knopman

"We wanted to thank you for everything that you did to make our wedding absolutely perfect. You had every detail covered to make the day as special for us as we ever could have hoped for. You were able to put the bride, the groom and both of our parents completely at ease when we were all too excited to sit still! All of your hard work paid off and made for an amazing weekend." — Lily & Ari Beilin

"We wanted to take a moment to write a personal note to thank you and your staff. Jon and I always knew we wanted to get married in Stowe, but before spending a weekend in Vermont over Memorial Day, we didn't know exactly where. I had done my fair share of research before visiting possible venues, but once we arrived in Stowe, we knew immediately that we wanted to be married at the mountain. Jon and I had some pretty tricky requests along the way, and wherever possible, you worked with us to make our vision possible. It's truly a testament to the staff at SMR that on my wedding day the only thing I was worried about was the weather! We can't begin to thank the staff enough for helping create the most memorable and incredible day of our lives." — Ali & Jon Schippers
